TIME-HONORED TECHNOLOGY TRANSFERRED TO THE 21ST CENTURY
The use of UV-C for disinfection has been common practice since the middle of the 20th century: first in medical hygiene and sterile working environments, later in water treatment, food production and air purification systems. However, there was only the possibility of irradiation with
UV-C light through tubes - which had a high mercury content. However, the UV-C technology based on LEDs works without chemicals, toxic compounds and resistance formation.
" UV-C LEDs are small semiconductors that emit UV-C light to destroy dangerous pathogens in water, on the surface and in the air. Klaran WD is a high-intensity UV-C LED device for demand-driven water treatment at the point of consumption. These products emit in the germicidal peak range from 260 nm to 275 nm and provide effective and consistent antimicrobial performance for a range of pathogenic organisms. Klaran is committed to providing products for true UV-C LED-based disinfection. Based on a proprietary technology for aluminium nitride substrates, Klaran leverages its international design expertise for UV-C LED-based disinfection systems to provide customers with reliable performance and delivery of POU water reactors and discrete UV-C LEDs. UV-C WAVELENGTH
For disinfection, UV-C based on LED offers further advantages: Unwelcome micro-organisms can become inactive within seconds, while the product properties remain unchanged. This is because the very high-energy UV-C light triggers a photochemical reaction. An LED wavelength between 265nm and 275nm can be absorbed by the cell nucleic acids. Depending on the radiation dose, this leads to the destruction or damage of bacteria and fungal spores. UV-C light is therefore used to specifically damage or kill microorganisms (such as bacteria/viruses, yeasts and moulds).
OUR 265nm LEDS vs. 280nm LEDS
The effect on the destruction of the cell structure of germs depends on the wavelength. With the previous mercury tubes, technology was limited to 253.4nm wavelengths. Purgaty® therefore relies on the technology leader Klaran, which with its patented UV-C LEDS manages to emit the radiation at a peak wavelength of 265nm. This enables us to achieve disinfection rates up to 100% more effective than LEDS with 280nm and within a very short time.
SIMPLICITY AND QUALITY MEANS EVERYTHING FOR US.

ABOUT EUROFINS®
"As an accredited test and research laboratory, we were able to prove the disinfectant effect of the purgaty® brain in combination with the purgaty® bottle. As our test report shows, germ cultures added to drinking water, which contained strains of coliform bacteria as well as enterococci and pseudonyms Aeruginosa, could be successfully inactivated within 55 seconds by the UVC LED technology development of purgaty®. The complete disinfecting effect on the examined water and the resulting suitability as drinking water can thus be attested", confirms Dr. Christian Eder, Managing Director of Eurofins Umwelt Österreich GmbH & Co. KG."
